Design

At Liberty we passionately believe that design is critical to the success of online civic engagement.  Having a poorly packaged web site will negate any amount of powerful application deployment, and ultimately degrade the brand and cause of the client.

Liberty’s approach to design is not merely based on pure aesthetic, but on techniques that specifically enhance the goals and missions of the client.
Liberty’s designs its sites specifically for civic clients in mind so that sites:

Are easy to use.  Too many sites forget their audience.  Liberty builds sites with easy to use navigation structures, never sacrificing form over function.

Emote to the User.  Almost every cause or issue has a face, or a human component.  So much of a site’s success in engaging the user is based on whether it can create a powerful emotional response.

Establish a brand or enhance an existing one.   Many organizations rely on their web site to create and maintain a brand.  Liberty helps design logos, select color palettes, choose fonts, and create an online brand.  For organizations that are already well branded, Liberty makes sure the essence is preserved online, and often enhanced.

Send users to the right places.  Each organization has its primary online goals, whether is getting petition signatures, raising money online, recruiting volunteers, etc.  Liberty designs each site to immediately drive user attention to key areas, and reinforce those areas throughout the body of the site.  To borrow from the campaign world, we keep sites ‘on message.’

Our design process is simple.  We evaluate existing branding (or create), perform an initial discovery of organizational goals, find the sites that most visually appeal to a client, and suggest other sites that have successfully executed similar goals.  We then produce several drafts based on the discovery, which are then honed exactly to the client’s specifications.
